Will your SD card work with the Raspberry Pi?

There are thousands of models of SD cards, and not all of them are compatible with the Raspberry Pi. So before you buy a card you can’t use, run it past our SD card checker.*

Once you’ve got that, just plug it into our checker and find out instantly if it’s compatible. For some SD cards, you might also need to know the model number — this varies based on the brand, but check the back of the packaging or the description online. And that’s it – have fun!

**Thank you to the eLinux Wiki for providing the original list of compatible SD cards, which you can find here
