What a year! Here are our best bits of 2014

Tradition states that as we move forward into the unknown, we hold steadfast to old habits and rituals. Be this advisable or not, as tradition would have it we are navel gazing our way into the New Year!

In March…

  • Alex gives his awesome Ted talk on inspiring a creative generation

In April…

In August…

  • We outgrow our office in Shoreditch and move into a more accommodating venue in Whitechapel London, cursed/blessed to gorge ourselves on the-best-lamb-chops-in-London for ever more…

In October…

  • Shippageddon! Shipping over 20,000 kits to Kano kids across the globe is both insane and wonderful. It gives birth to some of the most awesome unboxing videos ever seen on the entirety of the interweb. Ever.

  • We release the beautifully produced short How To Make a Computer, thanks to our supercool film guy, Leo Dawson, and our Kano Kid super star.

In November…

  • We hold our first Raspberry Jam event at the Kano HQ – OK, so it’s not quite a moment, it’s a whole day spent with techies and their kids at the Kano HQ. Barrels and barrels of laughs.

In December…

  • Obama and Kano are caught in the same frame. And we didn’t even sneak in there… The excitement is uncontainable.

  • Wired names Kano as one of the 27 Most Inspiring Designs and as one of their 10 Absolute Favourite Gadgets of 2014!
  • For the first time ever the entire Kano team, from places as far flung as Shenzhen, Stockholm and Sheffield congregate at our London HQ for a end of year Company Day. A entire day of learning, making and absolute hilarity.

All year round…

  • Food. As our Office Manager Extraordinaire, Dominique will attest, food, is of the utmost importance at Kano, as is our weekly Company Lunch.

  • Meeting, hanging, making and coding with countless cool Kano Kids is what this is all about – we look forward to meeting countless more in the years to come!
